Jane McManus discusses Thomas Jones' decision to donate his brain, upon his death, to the Sports Legacy Institute. As you may know, our CEO has decided to be studied for evidence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy. Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, also known as CTE, has been known to affect boxers since the 1920s. Recently, it has been discovered that many retired professional football players have also been found to have a history of repetitive brain trauma. CTE is said to take possible affect starting from months or even decades after the last brain trauma/concussion or end of active athletic activities. Symptoms have said to be memory loss, confusion, impaired
judgment, impulse control problems, aggression, depression, and,
eventually, progressive dementia.
